Corian countertops are easy to clean and unlike other countertops you can use abrasive cleaners on them where you would not be able to on marble, granite or quartz, but they are not very resistant to heat and you cannot put hot pots or pans on top of them.  You would not want to risk a chance of an area melting due to the direct heat; use a trivet.  Corian may be a solid surface which means it does not stain but there are chances that you can scratch it.  On the other hand with the surface being softer it is easier on your dishes.
