Top 10 Kitchen Design Trends

The kitchen has an important role in a home as the main meeting point for family members. No wonder homeowners who spend on average $ 54,200 to remodel your kitchen, according to Remodeling magazine.

The following are the top ten trends kitchen design that have been highlighted in the recently held annual Kitchen Industry Show and Convention in Las Vegas. Discover the 2007 trends in kitchen design and maintained in touch with what home buyers want.

1. The kitchen area. The new trend is the decentralization of the traditional kitchen consisting of a series refrigerator and sink into different zones based on job functions. Today's hottest kitchens are those that are organized by key issues such as the cooking zone, a cleaning area, a center of coffee, etc.

2. Heart of the activity. The kitchen is not only a cooking zone, but an important business. Consequently, the trend in modern kitchens is towards bigger spaces equipped with amenities such as fireplaces, flat screen TV and seating.

3. Mix and match products. Kitchens are opting for chic designs of the mixing and matching with the owners of house type incorporating products from different manufacturers for more variety and aesthetic appeal.

4. Easy maintenance. The trend is towards products that are easier to maintain. For example, the preference is for materials as quartz for the man who not only is available in several colors, but is also cheaper option compared to granite.

5. Hidden storage. Storage spaces are being shifted to lower levels in the kitchen with fewer upper cabinets than before. This not only lets in more light but also makes the kitchen space look larger.

6. Professional cooking equipment. Buyers prefer professional ranges, ovens and refrigerators. Other equipment such as steamers, induction cookers, and high-speed ovens etc. are on their much favored list.

7. Products for small homes. With the trend towards the reduction of origin, manufacturers of kitchen products are designing smaller appliances to suit small homes such as 24-inch chains.

8. Innovations in lighting. There are new introductions in the lighting system of the kitchen too. Some innovations include new designs that balance the various types of lighting with bulbs on dimmers for flexibility.

9. Towards greener products. Also This year the trend toward earth-friendly products for kitchens is strong. Green products such as bamboo flooring and wheatboard, countertops, VOC paints and equipment energy with stars are big favorites.

10. Universal design. The trend has shifted to non-institutional looking designs for greater functionality, such as levers instead of more difficult to turn knobs, lower counters and wider aisles for wheelchairs, etc.
