Designing a dashboard with ceramic tiles or tumbled stone
You chose a beautiful granite kitchen. Now you need a large splash appearance. What can you do?
You can hire a professional designer, the design of the dashboard. That could be costly.
And the man at work who installs tile part time. He says, "Sure you can do that, trust me."
After Having worked with hundreds of people to create their own dashboards, kitchen countertop, these are some of the ways some people choose to have a new board. In this article I show how to design your own dashboard the way you want to display.
It's simple.
First, the design of each rear wall wall individually. By this I mean select a wall above the counter and understand the design you want to achieve.

Measure the length of the left wall in inches. Tile sizes are in inches or metric. measurement in feet makes it difficult to estimate the number of tiles you need, especially 3x6 "tiles. The measurement of the top of the deck at the bottom of the cabinets is usually 17 to 18 inches.
Decide what size tile to use. The most common are 4x4, 6x6, 3x6 and 12x12. Go to a tile store and get various sizes to help determine what size you want. Ask yourself this question. Do I want the tile set in a diagonal or straight? Note that a 6-inch tile diagonal measures approximately 8 1 / 2 inches.
A 17-inch high rear wall will have two six-inch diagonal tiles, filling all or nearly all space. A four-inch tiles on measures 6 inches diagonally from end to end. So for a 17-inch rear wall requires three four-inch tiles diagonal. A six-inch tile, installed in a straight pattern requires 3 frames for the rear wall of 17 inches.
April 4-inch tiles are needed to a rear wall of 17 inches. Most common grout line is 1 / 4 inch grout line. The use of inserts add to the overall look back wall. In general, use an insert of 2 inches with a six-inch sheet. Usually a piece of 4 inch is best viewed with an insertion of 1 inch. Add insert adds the beauty of the design of the rear wall. Where is inserted like them.
Word of caution. Do not use for thousands of insertions. Inserts are only used for accent tile design, if not the focal point. End measurement of the lavatory wall and other walls. Apply the same techniques on every wall, except the wall of the sink. Between the window and the sink, the wall should not have moving parts. Only the mosaic pattern, either diagonally or straight. For many insertions in the walls ajacent to windows, you can give a "busy" look.
Extend the same pattern used in the left wall of the posterior wall of the remaining walls. Using this method of disposal at the posterior wall helps you determine how many parts you need. Allow 15% more than the amount you need for the cuts.
Example: You need six 44-inch tiles, for 8 additional pieces. Selection of tiles or stone is much easier when you know exactly what you need. You have a good idea of the number of tiles needed and what it will cost the tile.
Now you are the master design of the rear surface of the tile. ================================================== =
